Can Peace of Mind Really Be Mine?

Today’s world is full of stress.  When the pressures and worries of this world cripple our thoughts and steal our peace there is hope to be found.  Peace of mind can really be yours.

Your mind is like the entrance of a home.  Through the door of your mind come thoughts of every kind.  Some thoughts bring peace and contentment; others bring unhappiness and sorrow.

Too often fears and worries force themselves into the mind.  When we allow them to linger, they enter our spirits and can soon overtake our thinking.  These thoughts can be so strong and persistent that they claim our whole attention.  They can cause us to lose sleep and appetite, sapping away our strength throughout the day.

Thoughts can come in a thousand different ways.  Some wait at the door of our mind and push their way in.  Others can slip in unexpectedly when we are not on guard.  But when we permit them to remain, they can fill our lives with sorrow.

A thought knocks at the door of your mind.  What will you do?

Passion knocks.  If it is entertained and allowed to take root it will soon lead to sin and shame.  Anxiety and worry appear and keep one sleepless for nothing.  In the morning things are no better than they were for having had a night without sleep.  Doubt enters and fills the house with darkness.  Fears can cause us to panic and be filled with unseen terrors.  Wondering what if…

We worry about family, jobs, money, the future, health and many more things. These troubles can leave us burdened and heavy-laden.  Today thousands of people live in fear and depression because they allow tormenting thoughts to flood their mind.

Where can a person find true peace of mind?

Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to relieve us from these worries and burdens.  He desires to flood us with Peace like a river.  His peace.  He desires to lessen our burdens and cares.

Matthew 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.   Jesus does not want you to carry those burdens and be weighed down.  He wants you to let Him carry it for you.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  You don’t have to worry or be afraid.  Jesus has peace to give you.  Not a peace like that of the world, but a peace that can come only from Him.  It’s a peace that calms your fears and worries.

Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  You may not understand how you can have peace when it seems like things are going wrong, but Jesus gives us a peace that passes all understanding.  He gives us peace of mind and will keep our hearts from fear.

Isaiah 26:3  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusted in thee. The solution is to think on things other than our fears and worries.  Think on Jesus and how much He loves you.  Allow your thoughts to be upon Him.  Trust Him to take care of your situations.  He will give you peace.

Peace of Mind can be yours today!

Pray this prayer with your heart:

Father, Thank you that I can have peace through your Son Jesus Christ who died for me and loves me.  Help me to think on His goodness and care for me when I am tempted to dwell on things that cause worry and fear to rise up in me.  I let go of my burdens and I give them to you now.  I ask you to let Your peace flood my soul and I choose to rest in Your care.    In Jesus Name, Amen.
